Frequently asked questions.

What Services does Nail Couture Offer?

We focus on providing niche services in nail care & nail enhancements. We want to be best at grooming hands and feet of our clients. We offer wide range of manicures, pedicures, gel polish application, bespoke nail art, nail extensions and refills.

Are you unisex, are men welcome?

Yes both women and men are welcome ! In fact, often, we have the privilege of serving couples with manicure & pedicure. Men can also avail a quick Dry Mani/Pedi or a relaxing massage service while their significant other gets pampered.

How do you maintain safety & hygiene?

We follow CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines for Salon Cleaning & Disinfecting. Safe and hygienic protocols are built into our daily cleaning routine as mentioned below:

Manicure tables - High touch surfaces such as manicure tables are first cleaned with soap solution and then wiped with disinfectant containing at least 70% alcohol content. Manicure tables are disinfected with 70% alcohol after each client service.

Pedicure sink - We do not have a sink with jets/whirlpools in order to minimise bacterial infection transfer. whirlpools are known to harbour bacteria in the jets unless they are cleaned with disinfectants and are run for 10 minutes (as per CDC guidelines) for thorough cleaning. We clean our non whirlpool sink with soap/detergent solution first and then disinfect with 70% alcohol solution after each service. As a final step, we rinse it with clean water.

Mani/Pedi Tools - After each service, used metal tools are soaked in soap solution and scrubbed with a clean brush. Then, they are dried and exposed to UV light for disinfection in the UV steriliser set at a timer of 30 minutes. Once tools are disinfected, they are put into a clean pouch sealed for new service. We do not re-use tools until they are cleaned and disinfected as a standard procedure. Remaining tools used are either disposable or sprayed with 70% alcohol solution after each service.

Client Services - Our technicians start every service by spraying sanitiser (with 70% alcohol) on their own hands first and then on client’s hands. A set of clean & disinfected tools is used for each new service. We have always followed this protocol even before the pandemic. We are happy to offer water & light beverages like tea. Please note, we do not hand out plastic bottles for water in our effort to be conscious in how it affects our planet.

Additional Covid 19 Safety Standards - We have trained our staff on safety protocols specifically for the pandemic. In interest to keep our staff and clients safe, we have added following protocols:

  • Staff is required to wear N95 masks given to them for their work shift, they are encouraged to continue wearing it outside of work as well.

  • Temperature screening is done for all walk-in clients. For appointment clients, covid 19 screening questions are asked before they walk in.

  • All clients are required to wear a triple layer surgical mask or a N95 mask before entering the salon. They are encouraged to keep their masks on during services.

  • We have installed transparent screen/partitions on manicure table that sits between our staff and clients to block any transmission while coughing/sneezing.

  • We maintain staggered appointments to ensure salon is not crowded during services.

  • Salon common areas are cleaned with medical grade cleaning agent, door handles and glass surfaces are sprayed with 70% alcohol solution.

  • Manicure and pedicure area is disinfected with 70% alcohol solution after each service.

Yes, it is safe because hands are exposed for very short periods of time. At a time, hand/feet is exposed for no more than 30-60 seconds. We use LED Lamps which do not require long exposure to dry gel products.

Can removal of gel polish/extensions damage my nails?

We follow safe removal process at our salon. Our technicians are trained by International brands like OPI, Bluesky and Bio Sculpture for safe removals. Removal does not affect natural nail if the nail technician is well trained and follows safety protocols. Gel products need to be soaked in gel removers for 10-20 minutes for it to easily come off the natural nail. Please do not ask technicians to rush this process, gel products should not be forced out or peeled from the nails.

The Nail Couture is NON TOXIC, what does it mean?

We are committed to offering clean, transparent and conscious services to our clients. Many nail polish brands have approached us to promote cheap products and we have said “No thank you” because their products have harmful chemicals in them. From the very first day, we only wanted to use products that do not have toxic/carcinogenic chemicals and do not give out harmful fumes. We have carefully curated the brands we use to ensure we are toxin free and safe. We are very open about the products we use and are happy to talk about the ingredients. We also want to be conscientious towards animals. This is why we have incorporated a cruelty free brand of Polish in our salon, Evo by Bio Sculpture is an ethical & cruelty free brand of gel polish that we are proud to offer!

Yes, we offer Nail Extensions. You can choose the shape and length you want.

To maintain extensions, avoid being in water for hours at a stretch, don’t pick on dry cuticles or dry skin on the sides of your nails, and do not put direct stress on nail extensions for opening doors or boxes. Use finger tips and not nails.

How long do extensions last? Can I get refill on extensions?

Nail extensions last upto 3 weeks. After a few weeks, there will be a gap between the extension and the nail cuticle because of nail growth.  Depending on the gap, you can refill extensions and keep them for another 3-4 weeks or remove them completely.
